Reflective Statement:
Diversity is present in every classroom and my responsibility is to be aware of the differences that each student brings to it. Being conscious of the issues that arise will help foster an environment where everyone learns from one another.

- Diversity makes up a person or group and include, prior knowledge and life experience, ethnicity, family, gender, socioeconomic status, learning ability, ESL/ELL, special needs as well as gifted,
- An assortment of educational methods will be used to display and explore the cultural diversity, community, and norms.
- Using information about students, families, and cultures will help to relate classroom instruction to individual student experiences, creating a learning community respectful of diversity.
Experiential Learning:
I participated with The Bainbridge Island Park District of Bainbridge Island, Washington for four summers. Each summer I have been promoted, starting with camp counselor, assistant camp director, and finally camp director. These positions required me to supervised 30-32 children each day, plan activities for groups of 15 children, which included two weeks of special needs children, and I also trained staff prior to the start of camp. |
