Mrs. Schrader's Background
I was born at home in Seattle, Washington. When I was little I moved to a small island community just a 30 minute ferry ride from Seattle.
Growing up I was active in Girl Scouts, going to Robinswold Camp every summer. In high school I spent most of my time with the girls in my troop and watching the neighborhood kids, I was known as the Babysitting Queen. When I wasn't building my babysitting empire, I volunteered with many community organizations, including an anti-tobacco youth group, a special needs "big buddy" program and the local park district. I graduated from high school in 1998.
My passion to work with children encouraged me to get a degree in Elementary Education, which I received, from The College of Saint Catherine in 2004. Shortly after graduation I acquired my Minnesota teaching license in K-6 Elementary Education and Social Studies Specialty 5-8.

On August 18, 2005 I signed my first teaching contract and began my first year teaching at St. Michael School in West Saint Paul, where I had a wonderful first two years of teaching. After my second year my family decided to move and I began teaching at a Loyola Catholic School. While at Loyola I taught a variety of subjects and grades, Including 4th grade math, 5th grade reading, and 4th - 9th grade computer. Then in 2009 I began to also served as a Technology Integration Specialist. Finally it was time for a new challenge and I became the District Technology Integration Specialist for Le Sueur Henderson Public Schools, working with teachers full time to use technology to engage their students. The best part of my days were the days in which I had the opportunity to co-teach lessons. I missed working with

students and in the fall of 2015 I took on the role of Digital Learning Specialist for Saint Peter Public Schools where I would be given the chance to work directly with students on a regular basis. Still longing to be back in the classroom I began a long term substitute position at Monroe Elementary in Mankato, when this position ended in December 2016 I began playing the role of a substitute teacher. Then in March 2017 I took on a new classroom adventure, High School English Language, the students were amazing and may have taught me more than I taught them. Elementary teaching was calling my name, this past year I have taught 2nd grade in Saint Clair.
I love growing as a teacher, taking almost every professional development opportunity offered to me, building my personal learning network, I participating in TIES technology integration cohort in the 2013-2014 school year, and taking the Cognitive Coaching Seminar from MSU during the 2014-2015 school year.
I am no longer in a Girl Scout troop but I am a Lifetime member of Girl Scouts and volunteer when I am not busy in the classroom. My passion to work with children is as strong as it was when I decided to get a degree in Education.
